Getting Your Bearings
Sanibel Island, Florida basically measures roughly 12 miles long and five miles across at its widest. It has two main roads that parallel each other. The first is the Periwinkle Way which is located at the four-way stop immediately past the Visitor Center. This is the thoroughfare and west of the causeway, it leads to the shopping and dining district Sanibel Island, Florida. The other main route is the Gulf Drive which roves past resorts, beaches and homes at the water’s edges. This route is particularly segmented into the East, Middle, and West Gulf Drive.
Also, the little sister Captiva Island connects to Sanibel by the San-Cap Road. So, once you cross the short bridge at the scenic Blind Pass, the road becomes the Captive Drive.
